The Most Beautiful Beaches of the Dominican Republic

Several white sand beaches, facing crystal-clear turquoise waters and a coral reef, can be found in the Punta Cana and Bavaro region. These are very touristy beaches located at the foot of hotels, with rows of loungers under coconut trees, but they are often considered benchmarks. The beaches of Playa Blanca, Playa Los Corales, and Playa Cortecito are idyllic and delight many vacationers.

Bahia de Las Aguilas in Barahona

Located in the south of the Dominican Republic, in the province of Pedernales, this beach at Eagle Bay is isolated from major tourist hubs. It is absolutely stunning, bordered by cliffs that reflect in the blue, turquoise, or green waters of the sea. However, this beach must be earned, as access is difficult. Two hours from Barahona, after crossing a desert-like countryside, you must reach Cabo Rojo and access this beautiful beach by fisherman’s boat. Far from any bar or shop, you will feel like you are in paradise on this very secluded beach.

Playa Coson in Las Terrenas

This immense and very natural beach is bordered by coconut trees. Located in Las Terrenas, a charming village, and extending from Playa Bonita, it is famous for its powerful waves that thrill surfing, kitesurfing, and body-surfing enthusiasts. You can simply swim there or enjoy a bucolic horseback ride between the sea and the forest. A small local restaurant offers grilled fish, lobsters, or octopus to enjoy with your feet in the sand.

For lovers of hidden spots and sunshine, this beach is ideal. La Galera is located in a large bay that protects the village and the beaches. To access Playa Colorado, you must go through the village of El Frances and then park your car at the edge of the forest. Then, you walk through the tropical forest for 30 minutes to finally discover this little paradise. The scenery over the sea is spectacular. The waters are deep, ideal for swimmers. Large waves often break on the beach.

Playa Diamante in Cabrera

In the northern part of the island, in the Cabrera region, this narrow beach has an intimate feel. Nestled in a calm and peaceful green setting and bordered by rocks, you will feel like you are alone in the world. It is one of the unique sites to discover on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. A small bar on the beach serves a few simple but fresh daily dishes. You can walk for a long time in the cove while still being able to touch the bottom. The colors are exceptional, making it a feast for the eyes.
