Entry requirements to Reunion island

For all travelers

We remind you that Reunion Island is not part of the Schengen area.

If you are nationals of the European Union and the European Economic Area, no visa is required (regardless of the length of stay).
Otherwise, you must make sure you have checked the formalities (Check if you need a VISA).
The entrance in a French Overseas Department like Reunion Island for the holder of a Schengen visa is only possible if the visa sticker includes the name of the Overseas Department : "Valid for Reunion".

Although the French national identity card is accepted for travel, we advise you to travel with your passport rather than your national identity card so that you can take advantage of the automatic border crossing gates (PARAFE) during arrival formalities at Paris Orly 4.

Entry requirements to French Polynesia

We remind you that French Polynesia is not part of the Schengen area.

Citizen of European Union countries:
you must have a valid passport, no need of a VISA.
In the event of a stay in French Polynesia linked to the exercise of a paid employment, you must be in possession of a work permit issued by the government of French Polynesia.

For citizens outside the European Union:
you must have a passport with an expiry date at least 3 months later than the date on which you plan to leave French Polynesia; this passport must contain at least 2 blank pages and must have been issued less than 10 years ago.

Additional regulatory documents may be requested by the Border Police relating to:

• your means of subsistence in French Polynesia (e.g. bank card for international use, cash, etc.)
• your repatriation guarantees (eg: transport ticket to return to your country of origin or residence, travel insurance certificate, etc.)

• a boat or plane ticket that shows you'll leave the French Polynesia before the 90 days free VISA period.

Entry requirements for all travelers  

Contact information
1- All air passengers to the United States are required to provide contact information before boarding flights to the United States. Please check that your e-mail and phone number are well provided through the Manage my booking section. Without those contacts, the check-in online or at airport kiosks won’t be available.

2- ESTA/VISA 

Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA):  

If you are a citizen of Visa Waiver Program (VWP) participating countries , you must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel.
French passports are eligible for ESTA requests.
If you travel with ESTA, you must be in possession of airline (or boat) tickets that prove you will stay in USA for a maximum stay of 90 days.

We strongly recommend you to print your ESTA from the official website to make the controls easier and faster at the airport, or at least, make sure to have an internet connection available at the airport the day of departure.

VISA:  

If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) visa.
If you have a valid visa you are not required to be in possession of a round-trip or onward ticket.

From the United States

You must be in possession of all the documents required to enter the Schengen area.
If you have a US passport, remember these important points:

• You can stay up to 90 days for tourism or business during a 180-day period. You must wait another 90 days before applying to re-enter the Schengen area. To stay longer than 90 days, you must have a visa.
• A U.S. passport (with applicable visas, if needed), valid for at least 90 days beyond your intended date of departure from the Schengen area.
• Sufficient validity of the passport for each country in the Schengen area you will visit.
• The border police of member countries of the Schengen space may ask you for a justifiable reason for your trip as well as proof of sufficient financial resources.

US Emergency passports are not allowed to travel to France.

From French Polynesia

For all travelers

In order to enter to France mainland, you must be in possession of all the documents necessary for entry into the United States as well as all documents to enter the Schengen area.

Obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) prior to travel or hold a valid visa.

From Reunion Island

When entering France mainland, you must ensure that you comply with all the formalities for entering the Schengen area.
We recommend you to travel with your passport rather than your national identity card so that you can take advantage of the automatic border crossings (PARAFE) when you arrive at Paris Orly 4.

From the Canada

You must be in possession of all the documents required to enter the Schengen area.
Remember these important points:

• You can stay up to 90 days for tourism or business during a 180-day period. You must wait another 90 days before applying to re-enter the Schengen area. To stay longer than 90 days, you must have a visa.
•  Passport (with applicable visas, if needed), valid for at least 90 days beyond your intended date of departure from the Schengen area.
• Sufficient validity of the passport for each country in the Schengen area you will visit.
• The border police of member countries of the Schengen space may ask you for a justifiable reason for your trip as well as proof of sufficient financial resources.

1- Contact :
Make sure that your email and phone number are correctly entered in your booking record. You can verify and update your information in the "Manage My Booking" section. These details are essential for completing your online check-in or using the self-service kiosks at the airport..

2- eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization:
French citizens must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before traveling to Canada by air (unless they already hold a valid visa).

• Validity: Once approved, the eTA is electronically linked to your passport and is valid for 5 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
  We invite you to check the type of visa required for your entry into French Polynesia.
• Procedure: The application is easy to complete online through the official Government of Canada website: Apply for eTA
• Fees: The eTA costs 7 CAD (Canadian dollars).
• Tip: We recommend submitting your application at least 72 hours before your departure to avoid any delays.

3- Passport:

 Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Canada. It is advised to check its expiration date well in advance of your trip.
