Taxi in Paris
Although Paris public transports are overall great, there are some circumstances when taking a taxi that just makes life a lot easier. Keep reading for our advice on taking a Paris taxi, the rates, and the top companies to use when exploring the City of Lights.
Taking a Paris Taxi
Like all other major cities, you can get Paris Taxi 24 hours, seven days a week. When you land at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, the largest international airport in France, the different options to join the city center such as buses, trains, and taxis can be a little overwhelming and confusing at first. One of the easiest ways to get from the airport to the city is by taxi. It is approximately 23km and takes about 30 minutes to drive from the airport to Paris City, but this, of course, depends on traffic, etc. You have particular rights while taking a taxi in Paris, including where you will sit in the vehicle and which taxi you accept or don’t accept.
Rates for Paris Taxi
Firstly, have cash ready before booking your Paris Taxi, as many won’t accept a credit card. Paris Taxi rides are set to three specific rates, Rate A, B, and C. Rate A applies to urban zones between Monday and Saturday during the daytime, 10:00-5:00, at a rate of €1.07 per km. Rate B applies to suburban zones at a rate of €1.35 per km, and Rate C applies to areas outside of the suburban zones at a rate of €1.60 per km. As with any other city you will visit, rates go up as you travel further or outside of the regular hours. It is important to also keep in mind sub or extra charges, including €1 for extra luggage, €4 for every additional person, and varying booking charges. Suppose you are organizing a taxi between one of the major airports such as Charles de Gaulle and Orly and the City. In that case, there is usually a flat rate. For example, from Orly Airport to the left bank of Paris City should cost approximately €30 and €35 for the right bank. For transfers from Charles de Gaulle to the left bank, it will cost you around €55 to go to the left bank or €50 for the right bank (Paris is divided by the left and right bank by the River Seine). Whatever you do, be sure to agree on the rate with your driver before starting your journey.
